From Atoms to Insight: Visualizing and Analyzing Simulation Data with OVITO

Presented by Dr. Alexander Stukowski and Dr. Garrett Tow

A joint webinar from OVITO GmbH and Materials Design, Inc.

Atomistic simulations can generate enormous amounts of structural and dynamical data—but extracting meaningful scientific insight from those trajectories requires powerful analysis and visualization tools.

Join Alexander Stukowski, creator of OVITO, and Garrett Tow of Materials Design for a practical, demonstration-driven webinar exploring how OVITO can transform raw atomistic simulation data into quantitative results, compelling visualizations, and publication-ready images and movies.

Discover what you can do with OVITO

Alexander Stukowski will introduce OVITO’s flexible, pipeline-based workflow and demonstrate how researchers can analyze structures and trajectories across a wide range of materials modeling applications.

The session will cover:

  • Atomic structure identification

  • Defect and microstructure analysis, including dislocations and grain structures

  • Surface and porosity characterization

  • Time-series and trajectory analysis

  • High-quality rendering, images, and movies

  • Automated and repeatable workflows with OVITO Pro and the OVITO Python module

  • Using an AI agent to drive OVITO and assist with analysis workflows

Connecting MedeA and OVITO

Garrett Tow will demonstrate how structures and trajectories generated in MedeA can be exported directly to OVITO, allowing results from MedeA builders, electronic-structure calculations, and molecular dynamics simulations to be explored using OVITO’s visualization and analysis capabilities.

Through several examples, Garrett will also show how OVITO can be used to investigate and determine material properties across solid-state systems, aqueous solutions, and soft matter.
